(GSE superintendent)in the early morning to discuss the
geosynthetic clay liner(GCL)deployment schedule. He stated that approval of the GCL horizontal seams
on the slope had not been given by the Water Board and would therefore have to wait for the manufacturing
and shipping of new, longer rolls. Deployment of GCL, 60 mil HDPE and geocomposite began on the
northeast comer of the five to one(5:1)slope where the shorter rolls could be used and were there would b*
no horizontal seams. Four(4)panels of 60 mil HDPE were deployed, seamed and tested by the mid
morning.
A proposed drawing,by GSE, for the placement of the GCL on the northwest comer of the same slope
was FAXed to project engineer, Sangeeta L. (Lewis Engineering),for review and/or approval. This would
be so that GSE could order the rolls of GCL to the necessary length. The GSE foreman stated that he would
begin liner deployment on the west slope of the FU-03 cell tomorrow morning, working south to north.
Earthworks operations continued with one(1) scraper hauling minor amounts of excess clay from the
windrows generated by the blade that continued to finish cut the clay on the cell floor. The D6 dozer graded
and widened the access road into the cell that will be used for general truck access. The backhoe and
smooth drum roller cleaned and prepared the west toe of slope in the FU-03 cell in preparation for
tomorrow's liner deployment. The 140H blade began finish cutting the leachate pond floor but blew a
hydraulic hose in the late morning and was down for the afternoon.
Review of the roll certifications of the sixteen-ounce(16oz), eight-ounce(8oz) geotextile and the geonet
continued as time permitted. The twelve-ounce(12oz)geotextile was completed by shift's end.
Prepared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
r-,)
