C
FORWARD
INC OR POR ATF 1)
Re: Safety at the Forward. Landfill
Dear Customer:
P.O. Box 6336
1145 W. Charter Way • Stockton, CA 95206
09) 466-4482 • (800) 204-4242 • FAX (209) 466-1067
hebruary I; 2005
Allied Waste Industries and the Forward Landfill are committed to providing you with a
safe and efficient site to dispose of your waste. In order to maintain our high degree of
safety for both you and our employees, we would like to refresh some safety policies to
be followed when conducting business at the Forward Landfill.
As many of you are aware, our scale procedures now require mane vehicles to also weigh
out after discharging their load. As we all adjust to the increased traffic near the scales,
we ask that your drivers pay increased attention to landfill personnel who may be
directing traffic at peak times. While it may seem an inconvenience, our goal is to
provide minimum wait times for both inbound and outbound vehicles. As part of this
process, a "STOP" sign has been placed on the outbound road from the tipping area as
you approach the scales. This will help control cross traffic as trucks exit from the
inbound scales and proceed to the tipping area. Also, we would like to remind all drivers
that the posted speed limit while at the Forward Landfill is 10 MPH. Additional speed
limit signs have been posted throughout the site - please follow the posted limit.
Additionally, we need to restate our standards for safety at the tipping area. Drivers must
wear a hard hat and a high visibility vest or uniform when out of the truck. Appropriate
footwear is also required.
As the weather improves and spring approaches, we will be starting several construction
projects at the Forward Landfill. Please pay extra attention to moving construction
vehicles and landfill equipment and obey the posted traffic rules when entering and
exiting the landfill.
Thank you for your cooperation. Our goal is to continue to improve our procedures to
make your transaction at the Forward Landfill as efficient as possible. If you have any
questions or suggestions regarding these issues, please call me at (209) 982-4298. Your
help is always appreciated and your business valued.
Sincerely,
/ames D. Moore
Landfill Operations Manager
Forward Landfill
,&
P Anr „i raln-an.,
