the incident. The appropriate emergency agency will handle the containment of the <br /> spill. A hazardous materials contractor will handle the cleanup, manifesting, and <br /> delivery of the spilled materials to an approved facility. <br /> All hazardous waste disposal incidents are recorded on the landfill load checking sheet <br /> and are reported to the DTSC, RWQCB, LEA, and the Governor's Office of Emergency <br /> Services Warning Center. Documentation on the load check will be recorded and <br /> filed appropriately (see attached forms in Appendix C). If necessary, photographs and <br /> samples will be taken. <br /> In addition, the landfill operator has distributed various pamphlets and fact sheets <br /> concerning household hazardous wastes to the general public at the scale house. A <br /> typical fact sheet on Household Hazardous Waste is included in Appendix D. <br /> 3.4 UNIVERSAL WASTE PROCEDURES <br /> As indicated in Section 1.1, universal wastes are prohibited for disposal at Forward <br /> Landfill. Universal waste includes the following: <br /> • Batteries (rechargeable, alkaline, carbon-zinc, button-type, small sealed lead- <br /> acid); <br /> • Mercury-containing Lamps (fluorescent tubes and bulbs, high-intensity <br /> discharge, metal halide, sodium and neon); <br /> • Mercury Thermostats and Thermometers; <br /> • Electronic Devices (CRT and flat-panel televisions and computer monitors, <br /> laptop computers, computers (CPUs), printers, VCRs, cell phones, telephones, <br /> radios, microwave ovens and other devices containing circuit boards); <br /> • Electrical Switches and Relays containing mercury (some chest freezers, <br /> electric space heaters, clothes irons, silent light switches, pre-1972 washing <br /> machines); <br /> • Pilot Light Sensors with mercury containing switches (some gas appliances - <br /> stoves, ovens, clothes dryers, water heaters, furnaces, space heaters); <br /> • Mercury Gauges (barometers, manometers, blood pressure, vacuum gauges); <br /> • Mercury Added Novelties (singing greeting cards, athletic shoes with flashing <br /> lights in sole if made prior to 1997, mercury maze games); and <br /> 3-4 <br /> ):\Allied\Forward\2005.0051 Forward Load Check\2006 Load Check Program\SeclDoc:12/21/2006 <br /> BRYAN A.BTIRRAT&.ASSOCIATES <br />
