W MU FU-06 November 2006
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.07
same. Therefore, the installation procedures and testing described below pertains
to both material types.
5.3.1.1 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck shipment, Vector's CQA monitor observed the unloading and
storage of the geomembrane rolls. Each roll of geomembrane was logged in by roll
number and then crosschecked against the quality control documents provided by
the supplier. Following the inspection and approval of QC certifications, the
material was approved for installation. A copy of the log of geomembrane received
is included in Appendix I. The manufacturer's QC data is also included in
Appendix I.
5.3.1.2 CQA Conformance Testing
Select samples of the HDPE were cut from random rolls of the geomembrane at the
manufacturing plant by the third party testing laboratory for conformance testing
in accordance with the project specifications and CQA manual. Conformance testing
included:
• density (ASTM D-1505);
• carbon black content (ASTM D-1603);
• carbon black dispersion (ASTM D-5596);
• thickness (ASTM D-5994);
• tensile properties (ASTM D-638);
• asperity height (GRI GM-12); and
• interface shear strength testing.
A total of eleven (11) 60-mil thick HDPE geomembrane samples were tested for
conformance. The eleven samples consist of six (6) for the double-sided
geomembrane and five (5) for the single sided geomembrane. Based on 935,550 ft2
of HDPE received, this testing frequency corresponds to one test per 85,050 ft2
which satisfies the requirement of one test per 100,000 ft2.
