The "gap" between shear boxes was set at 80 mil (2.0 mm)
2. The test specimens were flooded during testing unless otherwise noted.
3. High Normal Stresses, >5psl (35 kPa) was applied using air pressure.
4. Low Normal Stresses, <5psl (35 kPa) was applied using dead weights.
5. The tests were terminated after 3.0"(75 mm) of displacement unless otherwise noted.
6. Tests were performed In general accordance with ASTM procedure D-5321 using a Brainard -Kidman LG -112 direct shear machine
with an effective area of 12" x 12" (300 x300 mm).
TEST ORIENTATION: NORMAL STRESS
=OX WITH BOARD SPACERS GEOTEXTILE
BOTTOM BOX W/ RIGID SUBSTRATE GEOMEMBRANE
Asperity Height: 0.024 In.
SPECIAL TEST NOTES:
1. Each specimen of geomembrane was cut to 14" x 20" and damped to the lower shear box, texture up.
2. The Cushion Geotexdle was, damped to the upper shear box.
3. Each test specimen was consolidated for 2 hrs. at the specified normal stress, then sheared.
4. The test was performed in a "wet" or "flooded" condition.
5. Shearing occurred at the interface of the textile and geomembrane specimens.
6. Some rounding and smoothing of the asperities on the HDPE occuffed to the 4th point
7. The Friction Angle and Adhesion (or Cohesion) results given here are based on a mathematically determined best fit line.
8. Further interpretation should be conducted by a qualified professional experienced in geosynthetic and geotechnical engineering.
'p& y the data ar d resatt represented on Ua's page.
