B. Earthwork shall conform to lines, grades, and minimum thicknesses and slopes <br />indicated on the Construction Drawings and as specified in this section. <br />C. Drainage i <br />ag ditches shall be constructed and maintained to provide drainage during <br />construction as directed by the OWNER. <br />D. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR will be responsible for providing siltation <br />control and management during construction, in general accordance with the site's <br />approved Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan. <br />E. Care shall be taken during earthwork operations to avoid damaging synthetic <br />components of the landfill including HDPE Pipe, Geotextile, Geomembrane, <br />Geosynthetic Clay Liner, and Geocomposite Drainage Net. Damage caused by the <br />EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall be repaired at the EARTHWORK <br />CONTRACTOR's expense in accordance with the applicable Specification <br />requirements. <br />A. All borrow areas shall be kept neat and orderly. Work areas in a systematic <br />manner. Keep borrow areas graded to drain and take all necessary precautions to <br />minimize erosion. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall review the <br />excavation plan with the QA/QC CONSULTANT prior to any excavation from <br />borrow areas. Leave all surplus material in the borrow area. Maintain access <br />roads as necessary at EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR's expense. Excavation at <br />the borrow pits shall be limited to a depth of 25 -ft MSL and shall be excavated to <br />permit the completed area to slope to drain to the surrounding area after <br />completion of all Work. <br />B. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall selectively stockpile the onsite fine <br />grained material to use as Clay Liner Material. The EARTHWORK <br />CONTRACTOR shall also selectively stockpile material appropriate for use as <br />protective operations layer. <br />C. Soils to be excavated are variable. Soil suitable for use as the Clay Liner material, <br />Clay Plug, Clay Earthfill, or Protective Operations Layer may only be encountered <br />in thin intermittent seams. <br />D. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall make all reasonable efforts to <br />determine the type of soil being excavated at all times. Equipment operators or <br />the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR's representative directing excavation shall <br />have sufficient knowledge and understanding of soil classifications to determine <br />general soil type. <br />E. If vegetative material or topsoil is encountered in the borrow area, it shall be <br />removed and stockpiled at an onsite location, as directed by the OWNER. <br />Forward Landfill WMU FU -06 <br />02300 10 EARTHWORK <br />• <br />
