During all compacting operations, maintain optimum practicable moisture content
required for compaction purposes in each lift of fill. Maintain uniform moisture
content throughout the lift. At the time of compaction, the water content of the
material shall be within 4 percent of the optimum moisture content.
C. Do not attempt to compact fill material that contains excessive moisture. Aerate
material by biading, discing, harrowing, or other methods to hasten the drying
process.
3.8 GRADING AND SUBGRADE PREPARATION
A. This Work shall consist of fine grading and preparation of lining subgrade for the
construction of the base and side slope lining. Overexcavation below the established lining subgrade by the EARTHWORK
CONTRACTOR shall, at his expense, be backfilled with Clay Liner Material
or General Earthfill Material as directed by the QA/QC CONSULTANT.
4. Once completed, all traffic shall be kept off the lining subgrade.
5. The lining subgrade shall be maintained in the finished condition until the first
succeeding course is placed. Any damage to the prepared lining subgrade by
the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall be repaired, at the EARTHWORK
CONTRACTOR's expense. Any damage to the prepared lining subgrade by
the GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR, including those caused by a delay
of the GEOSYNHETICS CONTRACTOR, shall be at the
GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR's expense.
Forward Landfill WMU FU -06
02300 13 EARTHWORK
