Northern Portion of W MU FU-06 August 2006
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.07
A total of sixteen (16) 8 oz/yd2 geotextile samples were tested for conformance.
Based on 1,030,000 ft2 of geotextile required for the upper northern portion for the
FU-06 project, this testing frequency satisfies the requirement of one test per
100,000 ft2. Results of the conformance testing indicated that the materials met the
requirements of the project specifications. The conformance test results are
included in Appendix D.
4.4 LCRS Granular Material
Upon completion of the installation of the lower geotextile, a 6-inch layer of LCRS
granular drainage material was placed on the cell. The 6-inches of granular
drainage material was placed by using a conveyor system to place the drainage
material onto the geotextile. A LGP dozer was then used to push the material to
grade. Vector's CQA Monitor checked placement of materials involved with the
granular drainage layer to ensure that the.placement activities did not damage the
underlying geosynthetics.
In addition, a coarse granular drainage rock was placed in the leachate collection
trenches within the northern portion of WMU FU-06 cell. The leachate collection
trenches were constructed to the lines and grades shown on the construction
drawings. The leachate collection trenches were constructed to flow towards the
southeast area of the cell. The leachate collection trench consisted of a 3-inch
perforated HDPE pipe encapsulated by the coarse granular drainage rock and
geotextile. Vector's CQA Monitor observed the placement of the HDPE pipe, coarse
granular drainage rock, and geotextile. The leachate collection trenches were
constructed in accordance with the specifications. The coarse gravel is placed in a
"burrito wrap" surrounding the LCRS pipe. The limits of the LCRS gravel are
presented in Appendix E.
is
Vector Engineering,Inc.•143E Spring Bill Drive•Grass Valley,CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-13-
