for retail sale. A portion of the compost is also used as Alternative Daily Cover <br /> (ADC) at the existing Forward Landfill. <br /> Compost materials are removed from the site as soon as possible. In the event <br /> of a fire, fire extinguishers are on all heavy equipment and in the resource <br /> recovery facility building. Pressurized water is also available at the resource <br /> recovery facility. In addition, the water trucks at the landfill are available for <br /> emergencies. <br /> 6.6 HEALTH AND SAFETY <br /> The following ongoing practices minimize potential health hazards to site <br /> operating personnel: <br /> • Training and directing all site personnel to identify potentially harmful wastes <br /> that may be delivered to the site. <br /> • Mandatory asbestos training program to inform asbestos workers of potential <br /> health hazards associated with asbestos. <br /> • Minimizing the personnel's exposure to wastes that may present a health <br /> hazard. <br /> • Maintaining on-site first-aid supplies. <br /> • Training site personnel in safe operating procedures (including Hazardous <br /> Materials [HAZMAT] screening classes as appropriate) and compliance with <br /> operating provisions. <br /> • Using personnel protective equipment when necessary. <br /> • Vehicle speed limit on internal unpaved roads set at 10 mph. Speed limit <br /> signs are posted at the landfill entrance facility. <br /> A Health and Safety Plan has been prepared for the Forward Landfill and a copy <br /> is kept in the office.
