WMU FU-08 October 2008
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.08
• asperity height (GRI GM-12); and
• interface shear strength testing.
A total of five (5) 60-mil thick HDPE geomembrane samples were tested for
conformance. The five samples consist of three (3) for the double-sided
geomembrane and two (2) for the single sided geomembrane. Based on 424,611 ft2
of HDPE received, this testing frequency corresponds to one test per 84,923 ft2
which satisfies the requirement of one test per 100,000 ft2. Results of the
conformance testing indicated that the materials met the requirements of the
project specifications.
In addition, large-scale direct shear testing was conducted on the
clay/geomembrane and geomembrane/geotextile interfaces (the GCL interface shear
testing is discussed in Section 5.1). Results of the conformance testing indicated
that the materials met the requirements of the project specifications. A summary of
the conformance test results is included in Table 9. Detailed test results including
the geomembrane/geotextile interface shear tests are included in Appendix I.
5.3.2 Geomembrane Installation
5.3.2.1 Geomembrane Deployment
Surface Preparation: Prior to installation of the HDPE, Vector's CQA Monitor
inspected that the GCL has been installed as specified by the project specifications
and there was no change in surface condition that required repair work.
Layout Drawing: The liner contractor, GSE, submitted a proposed panel layout
drawing that showed the general panel configurations and dimensions. The
drawings were approved by Vector prior to the installation of the HDPE
geomembrane. Panel layout drawings are included in Appendix I.
Vector Engineering, Inc. • 143E Spring Hill Drive• Grass Valley, CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-24-
