WMU FU-08 October 2008
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.08
Prior to completion of the installation of the 12 oz material, it was determined that
there would not be sufficient material to complete the project. Therefore, for an
area at the north end of the eastern portion of FU-08, two layers of 7 oz geotextile
was approved and utilized in lieu of the 12 oz geotextile. The approval of the double
layer of 7 oz geotextile by the Design Engineer was supported by interface shear
testing conducted with the double layer of 7 oz geotextile.
5.4.2 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck shipment, Vector's CQA Monitor observed the unloading and
storage of the geotextile rolls. Each roll of geotextile was logged in by roll number
and was crosschecked against the quality control documents submitted by the
Contractor. Following inspection of the rolls, the material was approved for
installation. A copy of the log of geotextile received and manufacturer's QC data are
included in Appendix K.
In addition, existing geotextile from WMU FU-06 construction was also used in FU-
08. The inventory logs include the roll existing from the FU-06 construction project.
The MQC certifications and conformance test results for this material were
reviewed and approved during FU-06 construction and the documentation for these
rolls is included in the Final Report for FU-06.
5.4.3 CQA Conformance Testing
Select samples of the geotextile were cut from random rolls at the manufacturing
plant by the third party testing laboratory for conformance testing in accordance
with the project specifications and CQA manual. Conformance testing included:
• mass per unit area (ASTM D-5261); and
• grab strength (ASTM D-4632).
Vector Engineering, Inc. • 143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley,CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-31-
