For situations that require standby (e.g., breakdowns or power failure), <br /> specialized, or additional equipment, Forward first utilizes available equipment <br /> from the landfill's operation. If this equipment is not available, Forward will <br /> lease/rent and/or contract the appropriate equipment from local contractors <br /> or suppliers located within an approximate 20-mile radius of the site. <br /> 4.4 POWER SUPPLY <br /> All of the Compost Facility's processing equipment will be diesel powered, <br /> and thus not subject to power failure. Backup generators will be maintained on-site <br /> to provide power to the office trailer designated for the Compost Facility during power <br /> outages. <br /> 4.5 PERSONNEL AND TRAINING <br /> Additional personnel will be added on an as-needed basis when, and if, a <br /> demand arises at the Composting Facility. The onsite personnel currently consist <br /> of the following: <br /> 1 Operations manager <br /> 1 Wood grinder lead person <br /> 2 General laborers and equipment operators <br /> 1 Secretary/office trailer attendant (part-time) <br /> - Temporaries as needed <br /> Staff training generally concentrates on on-the job training under the supervision <br /> of some-one experienced in the various aspects of the skills being taught. <br /> Potential hazards and safety procedures are stressed. Currently, there are <br /> weekly and monthly meetings in addition to any "as needed" meetings. No <br /> employee is permitted to operate potentially dangerous equipment or engage in <br /> potentially dangerous activities without appropriate training. <br /> Forward also implements an emergency response training program as part of <br /> their Contingency Plan.
