ERE
5.5.2 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck, the Ausenco Vector CQA monitor observed the unloading and storage of each
roll of geocomposite. Each roll of geocomposite was recorded in the Receiving Logs by roll number
and crosschecked against the manufacturer's quality control documents (MQC Certificates) provided
by the manufacturer. Following inspection of the rolls and review of the MQC Certificates the
material was approved for deployment. A copy of the Geocomposite Receiving Logs and the
manufacturer's quality control data (MQC Certificates) are included in Appendix L.
5.5.3 CQA Conformance Testing
Select samples of the geocomposite were cut from random rolls at the manufacturing plant by the
third party testing laboratory, TRI, for conformance testing in accordance with the project
specifications and CQA manual. Conformance testing included:
® transmissivity (ASTM D-4716);
® peel strength (GRI GC 7); and
® thickness (ASTM D-5199).
A total of two (2) geocomposite samples were tested for conformance. Based on 106,240 ft2 of
geotextile received, this testing frequency corresponds to one test per 53,120 ft2 which satisfies the
requirement of one test per 100,000 ft2. Results of the conformance testing indicated that the
materials met the requirements of the project specifications. A summary of the conformance test
results is included in Table 10. Detailed test results are included in Appendix L.
TABLE 10
5.5.4 Deployment
The panel deployment procedure was observed and documented by the Ausenco Vector CQA
monitor. The CQA monitor observed that the conditions for deployment described in the CQA Manuel
were followed during deployment of the geocomposite materials. Ausenco Vector CQA continuously
observed deployment activities to ensure no damage occurred to the underlying components.
The seam overlap, seaming, tie-ins, and other manufacturer's written guidelines were followed. The
Ausenco Vector CQA monitor observed that the components of the geocomposite (geotextile-geonet)
were not bonded at the edges of the rolls to allow for the geonet ties.
5.5.5 Repair
The materials were checked for defects during deployment and holes or tears were identified and
repaired prior to placement of the cover materials.
Date: October 2010
USVC0004800
Final Construction Quality Assurance Report
24
