' Summary of Northern California Youth Correctional Center Sampling Results for December 28,2010
Forward Landfill-Austin Road Unit,California Page 2
reported at 7.0µg/1 compared to an MCL of 5 gg/1. Trichloroethene was detected at 1.4µg/1 compared
' to an MCL of 5 µg/1. Well#2 had been taken off line during fourth quarter 2010.
During the December 2010 sampling event, the indoor faucet sample location had a tetrachloroethene
' concentration of 1.7 gg/l compared to an MCL of 5 µg/1, and trichloroethene was not detected at the
indoor faucet during this event. During the December 2010 sampling event, the indoor faucet was
supplied by NCYCC water supply wells and not by the city waterline system.
Quality assurance samples collected during the December 2010 sampling event included a field blank
at Well #1, a field blank at the indoor faucet, a trip blank, and duplicate samples at Well #1 and the
indoor faucet. The field blank sample at Well #1 was collected to provide an indication of VOCs
present in the ambient outdoor air or the laboratory analytical process. The field blank sample at the
indoor faucet location was collected to provide an indication of VOCs present in the ambient indoor air
' or the laboratory analytical process. The trip blank sample was collected to provide an indication of
any VOCs associated with shipment or the laboratory analytical process. The duplicate samples were
collected to provide an indication of sampling and laboratory testing reproducibility.
' The December 2010 field blanks at Well #1 and the indoor faucet yielded no detections. No VOCs
were detected in the trip blank. Duplicate sample results for the December 2010 sampling event were
similar to the original sample results, indicating good reproducibility.
Sincerely,
Herst&Associates,Inc.
' Erin Fanning Ward Herst,PG,HG
Staff Biologist Managing Partner
California PG#7150
California HG#775
Cc: Howard Hold—RWQCB
Robert McClellon—San Joaquin County LEA
Reuben Ramirez—Forward,Inc.
Don Litchfield—Forward,Inc.
' Attachments: Table 1 —VOC Detection Tables per Location
Laboratory Analytical Results
1
