4.3 COMPLIANCE RECORD
No notices of violation(NOV)were noted during the 2013 monitoring year.
4.4 FORWARD UNIT
Groundwater
Groundwater elevations measured during the 2013 monitoring year were variable,
reflecting seasonal precipitation patterns. The variable pattern in groundwater elevations
in 2013 mimics annual patterns over the history of monitoring. Hydrographs depicting
historical groundwater elevations are presented in Appendix D and indicate generally
static trends. During the 2013 monitoring year, the groundwater flow direction was
generally to the north and northeast toward the Austin Unit with a hydraulic gradient
ranging from 0.003 ft/ft to 0.013 ft/ft. In the northeast corner of the site groundwater
flowed back toward the site to the southwest at a hydraulic gradient ranging from 0.010
ft/ft to 0.026 ft/ft. The southwest gradient was first noted during the May 2011
monitoring event and is believed to be related to groundwater mounding, as a result of
agricultural activities east of the site.
Groundwater quality conditions beneath the Forward Unit during the 2013 monitoring
year are generally similar to those observed in previous monitoring years. The following
table summarizes inorganic CL exceedances during the 2013 monitoring year.
CL Exceedances During the 2013 Monitoring Year—Inor anic Constituents
Well Constituent 2013 Monitoring Period(s) Significant 2013 Monitoring Period of
CL was Exceeded Trend Significant Trend(s)
MW-2A Chloride All Yes 4 th
MW-13 Chloride All Yes 3`
MW-14 Nitrate All Yes 2nd,3 ,&4
Sulfate All No NA
MW-15 Sulfate All Yes 2",3` ,&4
th
Sodium 3 rd Yes 3
MW-18 Calcium 3 rd No NA
Magnesium 3 rd No NA
Sodium 3 rd Yes 3`
MW-19 Bicarbonate 3 rd No NA
MW-23R pH ls`&3rd No NA
Nitrate 4 th No NA
Sulfate 4 th No NA
MW-24* Sodium 2nd&3rd Yes 2nd&3`
Notes: *-Background Well.
NA—Not Applicable.
® CA2013-W21\FA_4Q13.dm 14 Geo-Logic Associates
