Final Construction Quality Assurance Report— WMU FU -13
Forward Landfill
• 5.6 GEOGRID
5.6.1 General and Receiving Inspection
A geogrid layer was placed below the geomembrane on the top deck area of WMU FU -13. The
MQC certifications and conformance test results for this material were reviewed and approved
and the documentation for these rolls is included in this Report.
5.6.2 Receivinp, Inspection
Upon arrival by truck, GLA's CQA Monitor observed the unloading and storage of each roll of
geogrid. Each roll of geogrid was recorded in the Receiving Logs by roll number and
crosschecked against the manufacturer's quality control documents (MQC certificates) provided
by the manufacturer. Following inspection of the rolls and review of the MQC certificates, the
material was approved for deployment. A copy of the Geogrid Receiving Log and the
manufacturer's quality control data are included in Appendix M.
5.6.3 Conformance Testing
Select samples of the geogrid were cut from random rolls at the manufacturing plant by the
• third party testing laboratory, TRI, for conformance testing in accordance with the project
specifications and CQA manual. Conformance testing included:
Wide Width Tensile Strength (ASTM D-6637). This testing was later modified per the
design revisions provided in Appendix A
A total of 1 geogrid sample was tested for conformance. Based on 68,000 ft2 of geogrid
received, this testing frequency corresponds to one test per 68,000 ft2 which satisfies the
requirement of one test per 100,000 ft2. Results of the conformance testing indicated that the
materials met the requirements of the project specifications. Detailed test results are included
in Appendix M.
5.6.4 Deployment
The panel deployment procedure was observed and documented by GLA's CQA Monitor. The
CQA monitor observed that the conditions for deployment described in the CQA Manual were
followed during deployment of the geogrid materials. GLA's CQA Monitor continuously
observed deployment.
• The seam overlap, seaming, tie-ins, and other manufacturer's written guidelines were followed.
29 Geo-oyic
A S S O C I A T E S
