Final Construction Quality Assurance Report—WMU FU -13
Forward Landfill
provided by the manufacturer. Following inspection of the rolls and review of the MQC
certificates, the material was approved for deployment. A copy of the Geocomposite Receiving
Logs and the manufacturer's quality control data are included in Appendix L.
5.5.3 Conformance Testing
Select samples of the geocomposite were cut from random rolls at the manufacturing plant by
the third party testing laboratory, TRI, for conformance testing in accordance with the project
specifications and CQA manual. Conformance testing included:
• thickness of geonet core (ASTM D-5199);
• peel strength (GRI GC7); and
• index transmissivity (ASTM D-4716).
Direct shear testing of the geocomposite has been discussed previously. A total of 3
geocomposite samples were tested for conformance. Based on 288,000 ft2 of geocomposite
received, this testing frequency corresponds to one test per 96,000 ft2 which satisfies the
requirement of one test per 100,000 ft2. Results of the conformance testing indicated that the
materials met the requirements of the project specifications. Detailed test results are included
in Appendix L. •
5.5.4 Deployment
The panel deployment procedure was observed and documented by GLA's CCW Monitor. The
CQA monitor observed that the conditions for deployment described in the CCW Manual were
followed during deployment of the geocomposite materials. GLA's CCW Monitor continuously
observed deployment activities to ensure no damage occurred to the underlying components.
The seam overlap, seaming, tie-ins, and other manufacturer's written guidelines were followed.
GLA's CQA Monitor observed that the components of the geocomposite (geotextile-geonet)
were not bonded at the edges of the rolls to allow for the geonet ties.
5.5.5 Repair
The materials were checked for defects during deployment and any holes or tears were
identified and repaired prior to placement of the cover materials.
•
28 Geo -Logic
ASSOCIATES
