1. The pH, conductivity, and turbidity meters will be calibrated at a minimum at the
beginning of each sampling day using commercially obtained. standards. Calibration Will
be checked two to tlu= times during the day to evaluate the potential that the calibration
is drifting throughout the day. - If instrument drift is detected in the field, the-
measurements
hemeasurements taken during pur&g and sampling will be adjusted accordingly. Example
calibration logs are included in .Appendix ' C.. During purZing and sampling of the wells
the instruments will be used in the same manner as during calibration.
2. Depth to water will be measured again, prior to sampling, in each well as described in
Section 4.4.1 and recorded on the Purge Characterisation. and Sample Log. The volume
of groundwater in the well casing will be calculated using the following equation(s):
4 -inch well- ' (I 6tal Well Depth f x= the mark on the well casing (ft)-- D -TW (ft)) x
0.653 gal/fL
• • to ♦ r r. 9 • the -water,■ ra R/. • r using i i • w
clear-7-
,en4ough toseethrough- Featzes1asimmisciblein V noted ..f • •! ..r i rt&
mutil •c layers-areobserved the Y • be • t • e• prior to v ti • t
4-
Ihe weH wWthen be purged 1 ■ the -purge■ tU i to f! • .tthepurnps tnust
purge water from depths as great a;T 70 -to 80 feet below ground surfacc plirge rates range
fmm 1/4 to I gafl-on per zmTmute- Tbis-purge rate does not appear to exceed the recharge
of at Purge
. • .• be discharged to-theground(.see, Section s
Depth towater measurmnents wffl be taken •r9 t. w • e r during r n _J e 1 purposeof
fliesemea==entst++• monitor -drawdown. a « .r. in _J. t Y. ■ s w.. .1i •. f is
noted, i " purge .f will be d=e/.sed !tt 1 equilibrium (purge
. k • etate;./ Y.'recharge
is achieved. : 7 ficquencyof measurement Y-onceevery Eyeminutes inidany
decreasing • once once -half :f r t once e• • ib• has • +.1/ reached.
If equilibrium r.a••.: be reached, it will be necessw to purge t to drynes& Purge
until ... than F' of / original v• t1! of ..r ;=ains in;=ail theHand bailing
may bee required to t/ + this • • «!
