® In the case of the -116n-dedicatedPUMP, it is lowered into the well and then activate
(power from -the controller box is regulated which controls the discharge rate of the `.
centrifugal purge pump). In the me of a well with a dedicated pump, the pneumatic
controller box is connected to the ed pump (some wells have special hi
. gh-rate
purge Pumps used only for purgtng, ese be identified by the fittings on the cap). A
dedicated. discharge tube (kept locked at the well head tri a protective
-bag) is then'
attached to the discharge fittifig on the
casing cap. The Controller is then turned on and
adjusted to reach the desired purge rate.
Mote: In ail cases where gasoline Powered generator or compressdrs are used, they are to
be placed at least ten feet downwind of well being sampled,
5. During Purging, field parameters eters (pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, and tempmaWM)
wr'll be monitored. Parameter measurements will be recorded on Purge and Sample Logs.
In addition field observations also will be ma& and recorded. on the Purge and -Sample.-
Logs. Such observations include -flow ratespvolumc-p ed; color, odor, bubo ' or -any..
-
other notable observations- An example of a Forge Characteri m iOn and Sample Log is
attached.
6_ Purging will --continue until stable parameter readings are obtained_ pH is considered
stable if the readings do. not vary by greater than o -I pH unit. Temperature is considered
stable if it does not vary by more that one degree®Celsius. Conducdvity and turbidity are
considered stable if they do not vary by greater than "1ii'/a_ field parameters .will be
repeated ai approximate five gallon intervals. A minimum of three well volumes; of waver
WW be removed from each well_ Tile le, values will be recorded to be used in
lite annual report,
Sample Collection
Samples will: be collected as soon as possiibie after purging is completed_ Laboratory -supplied
containers will be used to hold the water samples_ Samples to be analyzed for volatile, organic
eonsduients will be colleted first. Depending on .the well, same' les will be collected with either
de4c sled pumps or disposable bailers (a now factory w4ind bailer will be usedat each well).
In thecase of dedicated pumps, the pump rate will be 4usted so that the sample will not be
agitated as it is collected in sample bottles. When' ballers arc used, they will be lower -ed slowly
into the well so not to disturb the water. The sample will be decanted into the books slowly with
Z-48 849-Ft?I%23 a aRW A4
Coprrit 20o01:1ehsdder. lac,
July l os Zt0
