Water Quality Monitoring Report
Forward Landfill
3.1.4 Detection Monitoring Program
Field and laboratory results for the Austin Unit DMP wells for the second quarter 2014
are summarized in Table 3-1.
Non-Statistical Data Analysis
The non-statistical VOCwater analyses performed on the DMP well data indicates that
there were no VOCs detected in DMP wells for the Austin Unit, and as a result, no non-
statistical exceedances.
Concentration Limit Thresholds
In accordance with RWQCB Order No. R5-2014-0006, the routine inorganic monitoring
data obtained for the Austin Unit during the second quarter 2014 monitoring period
were compared to intrawell concentration limits (CLs) established for each well.
Inorganic CLs for the Austin Unit wells were recalculated during the first quarter 2014
and are presented in Table 3-3. Details on the CL update are presented in Appendix D of
the first quarter 2014 Water Quality Monitoring Report — Forward Landfill (GLA, 2014).
Of note, CLs were also calculated for AMW-6 and are presented in Appendix G. As
summarized in Table 3-3, no CLs were exceeded during the second quarter 2014
monitoring period.
3.1.5 Corrective Action/Evaluation Program
Field and laboratory results for CAP and EMP wells for the second quarter 2014
monitoring period are summarized in Table 3-2. As shown in Table 3-2, 16 CAP/EMP
wells reported one or more VOCs exceeding a Practical Quantitation Limit (PQL), with
CAP well AMW-1 having the greatest number of VOCs (13) including nine measured
above a PQL. An annual report discussing the CAP and EMP monitoring results for the
Austin Unit was prepared by Herst & Associates (Herst, 2014) and reported under
separate cover.
3.1.6 Cannery Waste Land Application Monitoring
Field and laboratory results for CWLAM wells for the second quarter 2014 monitoring
period are summarized in Table 3-4. However, water quality standards for the CWLAM
program have not been established yet, due to a lack of background data. On July 21,
2014, Geo-Logic Associates submitted a letter to the RWQCB requesting an extension of
the Cannery Waste Water Quality Protection Standards Report until May 1, 2016 when
sufficient data (eight quarters of data) have been collected.
M:\2014.0012\FA_2Q14rev.docx 11
9/5/2014,Rev.1
