Water Quality Monitoring Report
Forward Landfill
is Non -Statistical Data Analysis
The non -statistical VOCwater analyses performed on the DMP well data indicates that
there were no VOCs detected in DMP wells for the Austin Unit, and as a result, no non -
statistical exceedances.
Concentration Limit Thresholds
In accordance with RWQCB Order No. 115-2014-0006, the routine inorganic monitoring
data obtained for the Austin Unit during the first quarter 2014 monitoring period were
compared to intrawell concentration limits (CLs) established for each well. Since the
new WDR requires annual updates to the CLs and CL have not been updated since 2011,
inorganic CLs for the Austin Unit wells were recalculated and are presented in Table 3-3.
Details on the CL update are presented in Appendix D. As summarized in Table 3-3, only
the calcium concentration measured in well AMW-7 exceeded it CL during the first
quarter 2014 monitoring period. However, trend analysis indicates that there was not a
statistically significant increasing temporal trend for calcium concentrations measured
in well AMW-7. Trend analysis calculations are included in Appendix D. Since a VOC
release has already been acknowledged for the Austin Unit of the Forward Landfill
confirmation sampling is not required for the inorganic CL exceedance at well AMW-7.
• Further monitoring is necessary to evaluate if well AMW-7 should be grouped with the
corrective action wells.
3.1.5 Corrective Action/Evaluation Program
Field and laboratory results for CAP and EMP wells for the first quarter 2014 monitoring
period are summarized in Table 3-2. As shown in Table 3-2, 11 CAP/EMP wells reported
one or more VOCs exceeding a Practical Quantitation Limit (PQL), with CAP well AMW-1
having the greatest number of VOCs (11) including seven measured above a PQL. An
annual report discussing the CAP and EMP monitoring results for the Austin Unit was
prepared by Herst & Associates (Herst, 2013) and reported under separate cover.
3.1.6 Cannery Waste Land Application Monitoring
Field and laboratory results for CWLAM wells for the first quarter 2014 monitoring
period are summarized in Table 3-4. Of note, water quality standards for the CWLAM
program have not been established yet and will be submitted with the Cannery Waste
Water Quality Protection Standards Report, due September 1, 2014.
3.1.7 Domestic Well Monitoring
• Two domestic wells (7898-A and 8106-A) were sampled on February 12, 2014. Table 3-5
summarizes the current analytical results for the domestic well samples collected. PCE
M:\ 2014.0012\FA_1Q14.docx 11
4/28/2014, Rev. 0
