SECTION 02300 <br /> EARTHWORK <br /> PART 1 GENERAL <br /> 1.1 WORK INCLUDED <br /> A. This section covers the Work necessary to construct the earthwork for Waste <br /> Management Unit (WMU) FU-14 at the Forward Landfill. Specifically, it <br /> includes excavation, general earthfill, and grading, construction of a compacted <br /> clay liner, construction of a granular drainage layer, construction of a protective <br /> operations layer, construction of LCRS trenches, connection to adjacent liner and <br /> LCRS, construction of liner termination berms, and construction of an access <br /> ramp. Miscellaneous minor earthwork may also be required, as directed by the <br /> OWNER. <br /> 1.2 DEFINITIONS <br /> A. Acceptance Testing: Tests performed by the QA/QC CONSULTANT to verify <br /> the in-place properties of constructed components. <br /> B. Completed Course: The completed course is defined as a course or layer that is <br /> ready for the next layer or the next phase of construction. <br /> C. Construction Quality Assurance (CQA)Manual: A program of activities that will <br /> provide adequate confidence that materials and workmanship meet the <br /> requirements of the Contract and fulfill the project objectives. CQA includes <br /> quality acceptance tests and procedures that are outlined in the CQA Manual. The <br /> CQA Manual is an attachment to these Contract Documents. <br /> D. DESIGN ENGINEER: LEWIS ENGINEERING <br /> E. EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR: The entity that will perform all earthwork as <br /> required by these Specifications. <br /> F. Imported Material: Material obtained by the CONTRACTOR or OWNER from <br /> offsite sources. <br /> G. OWNER: Forward, Inc. <br /> H. QA/QC CONSULTANT: Consulting engineering firm directing, coordinating, or <br /> providing subsurface soil investigations, soil testing laboratory, geosynthetics <br /> testing laboratory, monitoring of construction, and construction surveillance. The <br /> QA/QC CONSULTANT is technically accountable to Forward, Inc. and <br /> responsible for certification of construction according to the specifications <br /> outlined herein. The QA/QC CONSULTANT consists of the CQA Officer and <br /> CQA Inspection Personnel. The CQA Officer has final authority on decisions to <br /> be made by the CQA Inspection Personnel. <br /> 1. Subgrade: Surface upon which fills or other features, including geosynthetics, are <br /> to be constructed. <br /> J.
