Water Quality Monitoring Report
Forward Landfill
® monitoring period were compared to intrawell concentration limits (CLs) established for
each well. Details on the statistical analysis for the established CLs are presented in
Appendix G of the fourth quarter 2014 Water Quality Monitoring Report for the
Forward Landfill (GLA, 2014. As summarized in Table 3-3, the following CLs were
exceeded during the second quarter 2015 monitoring period.
• AMW-6—bicarbonate alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, potassium, strontium, and
total dissolved solids (TDS)
• AMW-7—sodium
In a letter dated July 16, 2015, the RWQCB was notified of these CL exceedances and
retesting is scheduled for July 2015. The results of the verification sampling will be
reported under separate cover. Retesting will not be performed for well AMW-6 since
this well is a CAP well, mis-identified in the new WDR.
3.1.5 Corrective Action/Evaluation Program
Field and laboratory results for CAP and EMP wells for the second quarter 2015
monitoring period are summarized in Table 3-2. As shown in Table 3-2, 17 of 28
CAP/EMP wells reported one or more VOCs exceeding a Practical Quantitation Limit
(PQL), with CAP well AMW-1 having the greatest number of VOCs (14) including 10
M measured above a PQL. An annual report discussing the CAP and EMP monitoring
results for the Austin Unit was prepared by Herst & Associates (Herst, 2015) and
reported under separate cover.
3.1.6 Cannery Waste Land Application Monitoring
Field and laboratory results for CWLAM wells for the second quarter 2015 monitoring
period are summarized in Table 3-4 and were compared to Water Quality Protection
Standards (WQPS) calculated for CWLAM constituents (total nitrogen, arsenic, iron, and
manganese). As shown on 3-4, no WQPS were exceeded during the second quarter 2015
monitoring period.
3.1.7 Domestic Well Monitoring
Two domestic wells (7898-A and 8106-A) were sampled on May 27, 2015. Table 3-5
summarizes the current analytical results for the domestic well samples collected. PCE,
TCE, cis-1,2-dichloroethene, and DCDFM were measured above the PQL in well 8106-A.
In addition, trace concentrations of PCE and TCE were measured in well 7898-A, and
1,1-dichloroethane in well 8106-A.
M:\2015.0014\FA 2Q15.docx 11
7/31/2015, Rev.0
