Water Quality Monitoring Report
Forward Landfill
1.0 INTRODUCTION
On behalf of Forward Inc. (Forward), this report presents water quality monitoring data
generated during the fourth quarter 2016 monitoring period for the Forward Landfill in San
Joaquin County, California. This report also presents an annual summary for the site.
Monitoring was performed in accordance with requirements listed in the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) Order No. 115-2014-0006. For reporting
purposes, the water quality monitoring network consists of two units:the Forward Unit and the
Austin Unit. Section 1 provides a description of the monitoring network, site inspections, and
standard observations; Sections 2 and 3 include discussions of water quality data for the
Forward and Austin Units, respectively.
1.1 Monitoring Network
The water quality monitoring network at the Forward Unit currently includes 15 groundwater
monitoring wells (five of which are dual depth well pairs), one domestic well, two surface water
monitoring stations, and 10 lysimeters (Figure 1-1). Monitoring wells at the Forward Unit have
been constructed to monitor groundwater at the facility as follows:
FORWARD UNIT GROUNDWATER MONITORING NETWORK
MONITORING POINT MONITORING POINT I.D.
Groundwater Monitoring MW-22, MW-23R, MW-24
Wells—Background
Groundwater Monitoring MW-1A/B,MW-2A/B,MW-3A/B, MW-10,MW-13A/13,MW-14A/13,
Wells—Compliance MW-15, MW-16,MW-17, MW-18,MW-19, MW-21
Domestic Well DW-9690
Piezometers* MW-1B,MW-26, MW-313,MW-136,MW-14B
Surface Water Stations FSW-1,FSW-2
Lysimeters E-1, E-2,W-1,W-2,LY-A, LY-BG1,D-93A,WMW-D-01N,
WMW-D-01S,WMW-D-02
Note: *-Piezometers are sampled in the event that the"A"well in the dual depth well pairs is dry.
As presented on the following table, the monitoring network at the Austin Unit currently
includes 33 groundwater monitoring wells, two domestic wells, two surface water monitoring
stations, and seven lysimeters (Figure 1-1). The detection monitoring program (DMP) wells are
used to detect for a potential release from the landfill, while the corrective action program
(CAP) wells are used to evaluate changes in water quality and the effectiveness of the
corrective action measures. Of note, the 19 evaluation monitoring program (EMP) wells were
constructed as part of an on-going investigation.
Project No.2016.0007 1 Water Quality Monitoring Report 1
January 2017
