Multi-Use of Sanitary Landfill Site ( cont 'd)
B. If the weather is right in the fall, the land can
be cropped annually . This depends on enough rain early in the
fall to plow the land but not too much to prevent getting
on the land. This break comes on the average of about 3 out of
4 years . A comprised situation to figure on would be cropping
the land for sure 2 out of 3 years .
C . The stubble following wheat harvest has some value for
pasture if the land is fenced and there is a source of water
(approx. $2 to $3 per acre) .
D. The land can be rented for pasture also in the 1
out of 3 or 1 out of 4 years that a crop cannot be established.
It is suggested, therefore, that the above use of the
1 excess land be considered to realize a return for land.
1
33 -
