13.8 PROGRAM OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES <br /> Objective: Efficiently administer and enforce hazardous waste manage- <br /> ment and inspection programs in the County. <br /> Policy: The County Public Works Department shall maintain a data <br /> base of small and large quantity generators and contami ,' <br /> - <br /> nated sites. This data base shall be expanded during 1990 <br /> to 1999 to include information on underground tank releas- <br /> es, hazardous material incidents, contaminated sites, and <br /> complaints. <br /> This data base shall also be expanded to include informa- <br /> tion on <br /> 0 Hazardous waste management facilities <br /> ■ <br /> 0 Wastewater discharges <br /> 0 NPDES discharges <br /> 0 Air discharges <br /> This information will be compiled regularly and should be <br /> easily accessible by the public. <br /> The Public Works Department shall maintain a "hotline" for <br /> public requests of information regarding hazardous wastes. <br /> The County and cities shall consider adopting ordinances <br /> requiring new businesses that generate hazardous wastes to <br /> apply for a Conditional Use Permit.
