Commercial and Industrial Recycling: Source Separation, and <br /> Regulatory Efforts: <br /> PROGRAM DIscUSSION: <br /> In the short-term planning period, materials from the <br /> commercial and industrial waste streams that could be <br /> targeted for diversion could include corrugated, other paper, <br /> metals, plastic and wood. If these materials were <br /> substantially diverted, it would considerably reduce the <br /> weight and volume of waste being landfilled. <br /> Recycling from the County's commercial and industrial <br /> waste streams could be accomplished through source separation <br /> at the place of business. Source separation is done through <br /> cooperation between the businesses and the disposal <br /> companies. Bins or roll-offs are usually provided by the <br /> disposal companies and the business separates its recyclable <br /> material to provide a clean product for the collector.
