Ll <br />I C. Regulatory Requirements: <br />g Y�enc Y <br />u <br />Several State and local agencies are involved with <br />regulating the handling, processing and disposal of <br />special wastes. They include the following: <br />1. The State Department of Health Services regulates <br />hazardous wastes such as used motor oils and <br />medical wastes. <br />2. The Integrated Waste Management Board regulates <br />handling, processing and disposal of most special <br />wastes. <br />3. The San Joaquin County Public Health Services is <br />the Local Enforcement Agency and enforces a variety <br />of state regulations and local ordinances that deal <br />with special wastes. <br />4. The San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control <br />District regulates processing and handling of <br />special wastes that may have an impact on air <br />quality. <br />5. The County Planning Commission issues land use <br />permits and conditions for facilities that may <br />process special wastes. <br />6. The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors is <br />ultimately responsible for ordinances, land use <br />permits, and issuance of licenses and franchises <br />that may involve handling, processing or disposal <br />of special wastes. <br />Chapter 6 - Special Wastes 5 <br />
