face of the landfill. This facility also serves as a
recycling center. Also, the County is in the process of
renovating the Lovelace Transfer Station in the Central
County Area that will serve as a MRF when completed.
Only the marginal costs associated with use of these
facilities for public drop-off of recyclable materials
and for recycling materials from the waste stream are
included.
The Corral Hollow Landfill is scheduled to cease
operations in January, 1995. A replacement landfill
cannot be sited, permitted and developed in time to fill
the South County needs. Therefore, a transfer station is
required for the South County Area by 1995. This station
may also serve as a MRF and a public drop-off facility.
Only the marginal operation costs of using the transfer
station for recycling activities are included in this
component.
The curbside collection program will be operated by
franchised residential refuse collectors. Costs for this
program are only speculative at this time. Actual costs
will vary.
Chapter 9 - Funding 4
