The above totals include 11,516 tons of residential
and commercial waste that were transported to the
Stanislaus Waste to Energy Facility in 1990 from the
Lovelace Transfer Station. This facility is unable to
handle a wide variety of wastes. Therefore, only
residential and commercial packer truck loads were sent
to the facility. Since the transfer station is used by
several cities and the County, the weight of packer truck
type waste was tabulated per jurisdiction. Then the
percentage of the total packer truck type waste was
calculated per jurisdiction. Based on this method, it is
estimated that 53.6%, or 6,172 tons, of the waste
delivered to the waste to energy facility came from the
unincorporated areas of the County. Also included in the
above figures are 240 tons of wood, 19.2 tons of tires,
and 90.8 tons of white goods and scrap metal that the
County diverted from its landfills.
