for the current fill module.
The vehicle wash down area is located outside on the south side of the
maintenance building. The truck wash water drains toward the sump (a holding
tank) which is equipped with a grease trap. The grease trap is cleaned, and
the wash water is pumped out and used for the landfill watering when the sump
is 3/4 full.
The landfill module areas have a separate storm drainage system. For the fill
module, all four of its sides slopes drain toward a fill module drainage
basin. The drainage basin collects the runoff from the fill site.
An underground storm drain system, trenches, and channels is used to control
storm water from the recycling center and maintenance building. (See figure
B) . The runoffs from the buildings are channeled or pumped to one of the three
site drainage basins which are designed for 100-year storm.
2.2 LOADING/UNLOADING AREAS
The majority of loading and unloading refuse activities take place in the
recycling center. The center separates biodegradable from the non-
biodegradable wastes. The collected biodegradable waste are taken to the fill
site, and the non-biodegradable waste are collected for recycling to the
extent possible.
Both outside and inside areas of the recycling center are washed down
regularly for dust control. To control the wash water runoff, the grounds are
sloped toward sumps which are located on the north and south sides of the
center.
4
