� f ' <br /> B. j,OAD CHE R INDS PROHIBTTFD MATERjA?�S ATTRTBMED TO A <br /> This situation may arise when a load is checked after a <br /> customer, whose license plate number has been logged, has <br /> left the site and the load is known to have been dropped by <br /> that individual. <br /> If the waste is containerized for safe transport, it is moved <br /> to a hazardous waste storage locker by site employees using a <br /> tractor loader. The container is marked with the date and <br /> time of discovery; load checker or person who discovered the <br /> material(s) , and the vehicle license plate number of the <br /> responsible party. The incident is documented in the Load <br /> Checker's Log and the site's Special Occurrence Log and the. <br /> customer is contacted by telephone by the supervisory <br /> personnel and informed of their responsibility to properly <br /> dispose of the prohibited waste. The customer is advised to <br /> return to the site within 48 hours and remove such waste from <br /> the site. The customer -is also referred to the San Joaquin <br /> County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division for <br /> obtaining information on proper disposal of the material (s) <br /> If the customer does not return to the site and remove the <br /> prohibited waste within 48 hours, the customer is contacted <br /> again and advised that the County will have a licensed <br /> hazardous waste hauler remove the material (s) from the site <br /> and perform ultimate proper disposal at a -licensed facility. <br /> The County will then proceed with proper disposal and the <br /> responsible party is billed for the associated costs. <br /> If the waste is a spill, or is not containerized such that it <br /> may be transported, site staff will mark off the area with <br /> traffic cones and divert unloading operations to a safe area. <br /> The customer is contacted by the site supervisor and informed <br /> of the situation. Since the waste may not be transported, <br /> except by a licensed hazardous waste hauler, the customer is <br /> informed accordingly and that the customer will be billed for <br /> the removal and disposal costs. The incident is recorded in <br /> the Load Checker's Log and the site's Special Occurrence Log. <br /> The supervisory personnel then follows the procedures listed <br /> in Section IV, "Procedures for Handling Identified Hazardous <br /> Waste, " for performance of ultimate disposal. <br /> If the customer refuses to accept responsibility for the <br /> waste, or denies having disposed of the waste at the site, <br /> then Step C, below, will be followed. Also, the supervisory <br /> personnel will report the incident to the Solid Waste Foreman <br /> for investigation and follow up. <br /> -4- <br />
