3.02 INSPECTION <br />A. For the purpose of this inspection, "construction" means placement of any material <br />in the well bore after drilling <br />B. Construction of the wells shall be in the presence of EHD inspectors. <br />C. EHD Inspectors are available for inspection from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on working <br />days. The Contractor shall coordinate construction of soil gas wells based on <br />EHD's available inspection times. The contractor shall schedule inspection(s) of <br />soil gas well construction with EHD at least 48 hours before starting construction. <br />D. The following work need not be in the presence of EHD inspector. Such work will <br />be accepted after inspection by the Engineer, and shall be completed within the <br />working days allowed: <br />1 Well enclosures, including concrete base <br />2 Fencing work <br />3 Installation of cow barriers or bollards <br />4 Removal and disposal of spoils from specified well locations <br />3.03 DRILLING <br />A. Contractor shall drill soil gas well borings at the staked locations. The Contractor <br />shall verify the well boring locations with the Engineer if any well boring stakes are <br />missing or have been destroyed by livestock. <br />B. Drilling of the wells shall be in the presence of the Engineer. <br />C. Contractor shall select drilling methods. Boring logs of previously installed soil gas <br />wells and groundwater wells of each site is provided as supplemental information. <br />D. The County will not compensate for borings drilled deeper by the Contractor unless <br />authorized by the Engineer. <br />E. Coordinate drilling with the Engineer to maintain a detailed written log showing the <br />materials encountered at each depth, depth of each boring drilled, and the time <br />required for drilling. Borings will be logged during the entire drilling session by the <br />Engineer. <br />F. Drilling equipment shall be clean of previous environmental contamination. <br />Equipment will be inspected by the Engineer for fluid leaks that could potentially <br />mix with and contaminate site materials. Deficient equipment shall be rejected, to <br />be replaced by acceptable equipment at no additional cost to the County. <br />G. Do not use drilling muds or liquids. <br />H. Distribute spoils of well borings per the Engineer in the vicinity of the boring unless <br />otherwise prohibited. <br />Single Probe <br />LFG Migration Monitoring Well Specifications 5 of 8 <br />
