Uncompleted Borings: <br />1. Provide secure, vandal -proof covers and apply safety precautions for all <br />uncompleted borings. <br />2. Measure and record depth of uncompleted borings left overnight prior to <br />commencement of drilling on the next day. Re -drill collapsed borings at no <br />additional cost to the County. <br />J. Abandoned Borings <br />1. If impenetrable obstructions are encountered during drilling, the Contractor <br />shall cease drilling and promptly notify the Engineer. The Engineer will <br />determine whether to abandon or to complete the well to the specified <br />depth. <br />2. Borings not completed as soil gas wells shall be backfilled with neat <br />cement as soon as possible. <br />3.04 PROBE PIPE ASSEMBLY <br />A. Probe pipe shall have no joints. <br />B. Cover top end of probe pipe to prevent materials getting in. The cover shall last <br />throughout well installation process. <br />C. Verify the dimension of the perforated section of the probe pipe with the Engineer <br />D. Drill perforation holes on the probe pipe per the construction drawings. <br />3.05 WELL INSTALLATION <br />A. Well installations shall be inspected with EHD inspector. <br />B. Contractor shall place items specified in the construction drawings and in these <br />specifications in the presence of the EHD inspector. <br />C. Any boring that collapses during well installation shall be re -drilled to the specified <br />depth at no additional cost to the County. <br />D. Backfilling <br />1 Measure the depth of the well drilled from surrounding grade in the <br />presence of the Engineer and EHD inspector before backfilling. <br />2 Do not allow any organic materials into the borehole. <br />3 Place backfill materials to avoid bridging, overfilling the boring, or <br />damaging the probe pipes. <br />Single Probe <br />LFG Migration Monitoring Well Specifications 6 of 8 <br />
