3. CLEANING
All litter and loose material will be contained within the MRF/Transfer Station and Compost
Facility site boundaries. Litter and loose material will be controlled by fences placed at strategic
locations and around the entire perimeter of the site, and by an aggressive clean up program.
Litter and loose material will be picked-up daily.
E. PROCESSING OPERATIONS
1. DEVELOPNU NT STAGES
Initially, the Composting Facility will include a 60,000 square foot composting pad and a lined
evaporation pond that will measure approximately 66 feet by 162 feet at the top. As the quantity
of organic wastes to be processed increases, the composting pad and evaporation pond if
necessary will be extended to the south. It is anticipated that the compost pad will be extended
in increments of approximately 15,000 square feet. The extended compost pad and enlarged
evaporation pond will conform with prior design, construction and operating standards.
• 2. TYPE OF OPERATION
The Composting Facility will process a variety of organic wastes into a variety of finished
products. Different processing operations will be used to produce various finished products.
Some products require composting, others do not.
The facility is expected to receive a yearly average of 38 tons per day, Monday through Friday
(tpd-5) in 1995, 90 tpd-5 in 2000, 122 tpd-5 in 2005 and 166 tpd-5 in 2010 of green and wood
waste material suitable for processing.
Mulch Operations
A portion of the organic wastes will be processed through the tub grinder and screened to
various sizes (1" -2")depending on customer demand. The screened mulches require no further
processing and do not go through the composting processes required in the production of
compost products. The smaller ground particles (fines) less than 1" in size will be composted.
L./PROIECr/397fMRF/RCI4.TCY December 15, 1993
26
