3. Explosions <br /> Explosions will be handled similar to fires. The County the Fire <br /> District phone numbers will be posted at the access point, and the <br /> local fire department will be notified as soon as possible. <br /> 4. Earthquakes <br /> The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is not considered to be in a <br /> high risk zone for earthquakes. It is not likely that an <br /> earthquake would be centered near the landfill. However, if any <br /> part of the landfill is damaged by an earthquake, the County will <br /> take any necessary steps to repair the damage. <br /> 5. Seiches and Tsunamis <br /> Seiches and tsunamis are events that occur on large bodies of <br /> water. The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is a great distance <br /> from such a body of water (85 miles) Therefore, no emergency <br /> response precautions are necessary. <br /> 6. Floods <br /> Corral Hollow Creek is an intermittent stream that runs along the <br /> south edge of the landfill site. A small portion of the Corral <br /> Hollow Sanitary Landfill lies in the 100 year flood zone. This <br /> portion is lined with rip rap to provide flood protection. <br /> 7. Drainage Problems <br /> The landfill site face will be inspected quarterly by an engineer <br /> to determine if the drainage facilities are working properly., Any <br /> problems will be noted by the engineer, and the County will take <br /> action necessary to remedy the problem. <br /> The area immediately surrounding the Corral Hollow Sanitary <br /> Landfill does not include artificial or natural dikes, levees, dams <br /> or liners. Therefore, it is not necessary to develop any emergency <br /> response measures. <br /> Other events may be added to the Emergency Response Plan if <br /> necessary to satisfy the Local Enforcement Agency, Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board, and California Integrated Waste Management <br /> Board. <br /> The County has a wide variety of equipment available which might be <br /> required to mitigate each type of emergency. <br />
