3. Explosions Explosions will be handled similar to fires. The County the Fire District phone numbers will be posted at the access point, and the local fire department will be notified as soon as possible. 4. Earthquakes The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is not considered to be in a high risk zone for earthquakes. It is not likely that an earthquake would be centered near the landfill. However, if any part of the landfill is damaged by an earthquake, the County will take any necessary steps to repair the damage. 5. Seiches and Tsunamis Seiches and tsunamis are events that occur on large bodies of water. The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is a great distance from such a body of water (85 miles) Therefore, no emergency response precautions are necessary. 6. Floods Corral Hollow Creek is an intermittent stream that runs along the south edge of the landfill site. A small portion of the Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill lies in the 100 year flood zone. This portion is lined with rip rap to provide flood protection. 7. Drainage Problems The landfill site face will be inspected quarterly by an engineer to determine if the drainage facilities are working properly., Any problems will be noted by the engineer, and the County will take action necessary to remedy the problem. The area immediately surrounding the Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill does not include artificial or natural dikes, levees, dams or liners. Therefore, it is not necessary to develop any emergency response measures. Other events may be added to the Emergency Response Plan if necessary to satisfy the Local Enforcement Agency, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and California Integrated Waste Management Board. The County has a wide variety of equipment available which might be required to mitigate each type of emergency.
