L <br />F. The subg rade shall be smooth, drummed rolled, and inspected for any obtruding <br />objects that have a potential to puncture the overlying geomembrane cover. <br />2.05 VEGETATIVE SOIL LAYER <br />A. Source: On-site slopes of existing excavation and borrow area identified on the <br />Construction Drawings, or off-site sources. <br />tB. Consist of sand, silt or clay soils or clay mixtures. <br />C. Maximum particle size shall be 2 inches per ASTM D-422 and D-421. <br />D. Maximum aggregation at surface shall be 2 inches. <br />iPART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 SURFACE CONDITIONS <br />A. Examine the areas and conditions under which work of this Section will be <br />performed. Correct conditions detrimental to timely and proper completion of the <br />Work. Notify the Engineer of such conditions and proposed corrective actions <br />before correcting unsatisfactory conditions. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory <br />conditions are corrected and verified by the Engineer. <br />3.02 PROTECTION OF EXPOSED SURFACES <br />A. During periods of prolonged exposure (more than 1 week) of excavated or filled <br />areas or stockpiles, the Contractor shall provide labor, materials, and equipment, as <br />required to maintain and protect exposed surfaces of cut and fill slopes against wind <br />and water erosion. Prior to the application of protective erosion control measures, <br />the exposed surfaces shall be sloped to drain and compacted with a smooth drum <br />' roller. Submit methods used to protect exposed surfaces. The Contractor will be <br />responsible for protective method effectiveness. <br />B. The Contractor shall provide labor, material, and equipment to protect disturbed <br />areas, as shown on the plans, from rainfall runoff accumulation. Rainfall surface <br />runoff shall be diverted and pumped out of the area to the perimeter ditches shown <br />on the Construction Drawings. Runoff infiltration into the disturbed areas shall be <br />minimized. <br />3.03 EARTHWORK — GENERAL <br />A.
