The closure cap extension project will not include additional groundwater
monitoring wells. The current groundwater monitoring network consists of six
monitoring wells.
3.1.A Shallow Aquifer Monitoring (Four Wells)
Currently wells MW -4, SB -1, MW -5 and MW -8 are used to monitor the
shallow aquifer perched on the Corcoran clay layer east of the landfill. Well
SB -1 is up -gradient of CHSL. MW -4 and MW -5 are down -gradient.
3.1.13 Deep Aquifer Monitoring (Two Wells)
Wells MW -6 and MW -7 are used to monitor the deep aquifer. MW -6 is
down -gradient and MW -7 is up gradient of CHSL.
A chain link fence is installed along the perimeter of CHSL. The entrance is
locked, and restricts access by the general public. No additional site security
fence will be added. During the closure cap extension project, the chain link fence
near the project area will be removed for equipment access. After completion of
the project, the fence will be re -installed.
Since CHSL is closed and has relatively good vegetation, there are no dust
problems. During the Closure cap extension project, dust will be controlled by
periodic watering as needed.
3.4 LITTER
Because CHSL is closed there is no litter problem due to disposal of refuse on
site. Litter from Corral Hollow Rd and Interstate 580 is occasionally blown on site
or along the perimeter fence. Staff from Lovelace Transfer Station regularly
collects litter along the perimeter and on site.
Closure Plan Addendum San Joaquin County
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill 3 Department of Public Works
April 4, 2008 Solid Waste Division
