• 6
The daily "greenwaste" brought in by City vehicles and self -haulers
(gardeners and maintenance contractors) will be spread using heavy
equipment into approximate 2' layers. Wastes will be compacted by
passing over it approximately 3 to 5 times. The following days
"greenwaste" will be deposited in the previous days area and the
procedure repeated until Friday of each week when approximately 6"
soil cover material will be placed and compacted over the entire
weeks "greenwaste" deposit.
During rainy days, all "greenwaste" will be deposited in a
specially prepared wet weather area. When transporting clay cover
material is futile, geo-synthetic cover material will be used in
lieu of the 6" soil cover material on Friday of each week.
The use of Performance Standards will save space, and extend the
landfill life, as well as reduce the need to encroach into prime
farmland for soil cover material.
If you should have any questions please call me at (209) 944-8826.
MIKE MILLER
Solid Waste Manager
MM:bgh
HWIL GIAMBASTIANI
Landfill Operator
cc: Steve Sasson, LEA
Bradley Williams, CIWMB
Stephen Chen, Deputy Public Works Director/SWB
