The County
used the Gas Tech Landfill Monitor landfill gas instrument which
was calibrated with standard Gas Tech gas canisters according to
manufacturer's specifications. The first 15 structures nearest
to the landfill and the vents from the first 2 structures were
tested for methane. All of the structures and vents measured
0.0 percent of Lower Explosive Limit. In fact, the gas reading
on the instrument never exceeded 80 parts per million.
The next monitoring event will be performed in July 1998 .
