(2/94) <br /> Sec. 10-1, Construction Details <br /> Std. Spec. Sec. 19 <br /> Special <br /> FOUNDATION LAYER (Earthwork) . -- Foundation Layer <br /> (Earthwork) shall conform to the requirements in Section 19, <br /> "Earthwork, " of the Standard specifications and these special <br /> provisions. <br /> Material for foundation layer shall be excavated from Excavation <br /> Areas A and B to the lines and grades shown on the project plans. <br /> Prior to beginning any excavation, the sites shall be cleared, <br /> grubbed and stripped of all deleterious material. if additional <br /> soil is needed, Area B shall be utilized and shall be excavated <br /> as directed by the Engineer. <br /> Foundation layer material shall be placed in layers not to exceed <br /> I foot in thickness after compaction. Any layer below the <br /> uppermost I foot shall be compacted to a minimum of s6 percent <br /> moisture <br /> relative compaction (ASTM Test Method .D-1557 A) at a. <br /> content near optimum and be in a stable, non-pumping condition. <br /> The uppermost 1 foot of the foundation layer shall be compacted <br /> to a minimum of go percent relative compaction (ASTM Test Method . <br /> D-1557 A) at a moisture content near optimum and be in a stable, <br /> non-pumping condition. <br /> The finished grading plane 0.42.6 the foundation layer at any point <br /> shall not be above the grade established by the Engineer. The <br /> surface shall be maintained at a moisture content within ±2 <br /> percent of optimum until placement of the clay barrier material. <br /> Quantities of foundation layer will be measured by the cubic <br /> yard. The quantity will be computed by means of average areas <br /> and distances between these areas determined from measurements of <br /> the excavation sites before and after removal of the material. <br /> Foundation layer will be paid for by the cubic yard, which price <br /> shall include full compensation for clearing and stripping the <br /> excavation sites, excavating, loading, hauling, depositing, <br /> spreading and compacting the material, complete in. place. <br /> The above price and payment shall include full compensation for <br /> furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and ing and <br /> incidentals, and for doing all the work involved in obtain <br /> placing foundation layer, co=plete in place, as shown on the <br /> plans, and as specified in these special provisions and as <br /> directed by the Engineer. <br /> d:\w7_51\spec\harney <br />
