STRUCTURE MONITORING
On July 16, 1993 , San Joaquin County performed the third
quarterly labor camp monitoring event. Present during monitoring
' were Wes Johnson and Mike Selling of the County Solid Waste
Division, and Carlos of the Housing Authority.
The equipment used was a Gas Tech Landfill Monitor equipped with
parts per million (ppm) , Lower Explosive Limit (5%) , and 100% gas
scales. The ppm scale was used for structure monitoring. The
instrument was calibrated with a 2 . 5% methane mixture and was
warmed up for approximately 10 minutes prior to monitoring. The
methane level in open air at the labor camp varied from 10-60
Ppm.
ns two apartments. Monitoring Each building contains p g consisted of a
complete walk-through of each apartment with an emphasis on
incoming plumbing, electrical outlets, baseboards, behind stoves,
and cracks (if encountered) . In addition, vents on the roofs of
two buildings were monitored.
Results of the structure monitoring are shown on Table 2 .
Similar to previous monitoring events, fifteen structures were
monitored. The first 12 structures listed on table 2 are along
the east edge of the labor camp from north to south. Structures
13-15 are along the north edge from east to west.
