own
KLEINFELDER
File No. 20-1008-49.001
August 19, 1994
TEST PAD LOCATION
The test pad was located at the southwest comer of the secondary landfill site. The test pad
was constructed to allow a minimum of 20 feet spacing between the west end of the test pad
and the west slope crest of the secondary landfill.
BORROW SOILS
The borrow area was located south of the secondary landfill. The borrow area soils were
classified as a red-brown silty sand (SM). Samples of the borrow soils were acquired by
Kleinfelder prior to test pad construction for sieve analysis, with the following result.
Borrow Soil Description -200 Sieve (Percent Passing)
Red-Brown silty sand (SM) 34
Based on the sieve analysis and visual observations, SP/SM material was not present in the
borrow area. The SM borrow soil was transported by scraper to the test pad where additional
ANIL lab testing was performed.
ST PAD CONFIGURATION
The test pad was approximately 200 feet in length and approximately 100 feet wide. The long
axis of the test pad was aligned in a north/south direction. Both the County and Teichert
staked the test pad area. The eastern half of the test pad consisted of the "2-lift" construction,
and the western half consisted of the "single-lift" construction pads.
SITE PREPARATION
Prior to construction of the test pad, the site was cleared of all brush, grass and any other
organic matter which had grown subsequent to the completion of the foundation layer.
Foundation material removed during the course of this procedure was replaced and the
foundation layer was restored to its original final grade and surveyed by the County. The
foundation layer was compacted to a minimum relative compaction of 90 percent (ASTM test
method D-1557 "A").
TEST PAD CONSTRUCTION
Approximately 13 to 14 inches of SM borrow materials were placed by Teichert on the test
pad. Composite samples from two locations of the test pad were acquired for sieve analysis
to verify visual classification.
Test Pad Soil Description -200 Sieve (Percent Passing)
Red Brown silty. sand (SM) 32
GSM:md 13/94
Copyright 1994 KLeinfelder, Inc.
