• Eve Protection: Eye protection will include the use of chemical splash goggles and/or faceshields <br /> and impact resistant safety glasses with side shield protection that meet the current ANSI standard <br /> Z87.1. <br /> • Head Protection: Non-metallic hard hats meeting the current ANSI standard Z89.1 will be worn <br /> by on-site personnel as required during field activities. <br /> • Body Protection: Body protection will include the use of long sleeved shirt and pants work <br /> clothes. <br /> • Hand Protection: Hand protection will include the use of nitrile gloves when hand contact with <br /> affected materials (e.g., groundwater and soil) may occur. Otherwise use work gloves of leather <br /> or other appropriate material. <br /> • Foot Protection: Foot protection will include the use of impact resistant boots meeting the current <br /> ANSI standard Z41.1. <br /> These levels shall only be downgraded upon approval by either the CSHM or SSO. Project personnel are <br /> not permitted to deviate from the specified levels of protection without prior approval of the SSO. <br /> 5.2 Personal Air Monitoring <br /> Personal air monitoring is not required for site tasks as outlined in this HASP. <br /> Monitoring of air in the breathing zone will be conducted prior to and during drilling and soil sampling. A <br /> PID equipped with a 10.6 electron volt (eV) lamp will be used to monitor the breathing zone. A GC/02 <br /> meter will also be used. If unacceptable readings are encountered and verified, work will be halted until <br /> conditions can be assessed and a path forward determined. <br /> 5.3 Vehicle Safety <br /> Vehicle safety requires the following: <br /> • Vehicles are to be operated in a safe manner and in compliance with statutory traffic regulations <br /> and ordinances. <br /> • Operators are to practice defensive driving and drive in a courteous manner. <br /> • Operators are required to have a valid driver's license and liability insurance (per local/state <br /> laws). <br /> • Seat belts are to be worn by the driver and passengers. <br /> • No persons are allowed to ride in the back of any trucks or vans. <br /> • Vehicles are to be driven in conformance with local speed limits. <br /> • Personnel who are impaired by fatigue, illness, alcohol, illegal or prescription drugs, or who are <br /> otherwise physically unfit, are not allowed to drive. <br /> • Personnel are to avoid using cellular phones or engaging in other distractions while driving. <br /> • Vehicles should be maintained in a safe and clean condition. <br /> • Field vehicles should be equipped with the following items; first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, spares <br /> tire and jack. <br /> • Motor vehicle accidents shall be reported to the responsible law enforcement agency (when <br /> appropriate),the EarthCon CHSM,the EarthCon HR Director,the SSO and the EarthCon PM. <br /> 16 <br />
