1.0 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION WORKPLAN
1.1 General Information
• Purpose of the monitoring well installation: conducted on behalf of Cove
Contractors, Inc.to meet the request for reinstallation of the closed well MW-7 by Ms.
Mary Boyd of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).
• The site vicinity map is illustrated in Figure 1.
• The groundwater monitoring well will be installed at the North West corner of the
landfill boundary. The well will be located in the vicinity of the existing closed well
MW-7 and will be renamed MW-7A (see Figure 2). The final location of the well will be
determined by the existence of subsurface utilities in the area.
• This proposed location is selected to monitor possible lateral migration of
contaminants cross-gradient to primary ground water flow.
• After installation is complete, a licensed surveyor will survey the new monitoring well
location,as described in Section E.
• Earthcon will obtain the necessary permit or authorization from San Joaquin County
Department of Environmental Health prior to conducting the monitoring well
installation. Copies of permits will be provided to the RWQCB upon approval of the
workplan.
• To prevent potential contamination, all drilling equipment will be decontaminated
prior and post entering the site by the drilling subcontractor.
• A site specific Health and Safety Plan is provided-in Appendix A.
• In addition, a scaled map of the facility site features, including the proposed
monitoring well location,is illustrated in Figure 2.
1.2 Drilling Details
• Gregg Drilling, Inc., located in Martinez, California, will conduct the installation of the
monitoring well by using a hollow stem auger drill rig.
• Boring logs, documenting soil lithology from a continuous core, will be completed by
a field geologist. The Unified Soil Classification System will be utilized to describe the
soil lithology during installation.
• Investigation Derived Wastes (IDW) will include soil cuttings, decontamination water,
and produced water from the development of the groundwater monitoring well. IDW
will be containerized;separating solids from liquids,in DOT approved 55-gallon drums.
Drums will be temporarily stored on-Site until they are transported off-Site for disposal
based on the analytical results. Cove Contractors is responsible for the IDW
management and proper disposal.
t
Well Installation Workplan Stockton,Ca
Cove Contractors,Inc. Project No.04.20090407.00
