Design Considerations for Minimizing Odors
In order to minimize the development of conditions that could lead to odor problems,
the compostable material handling areas of the site were designed based on the nature
and quantity of materials to be received and stored, climatological factors, adjacent
land use, grading, and drainage controls.
A. Method and Degree ofAeradon
Each static pile is periodically turned and watered to complete the composting
process.
A Moisture Content of Materials
Most of the material received is dry manure that has aged naturally and contains
hardly any moisture when composting begins.
C.
