u <br />INSPECTIONS <br />The hazardous waste screening program is divided into three phases; an initial <br />T e g <br />screening at the facility entrance, a visual inspection of the waste by the station <br />personnel as the waste is being sorted and random load checking. <br />PHASE I Initial Waste Screening Program <br />Highly visible signs prohibiting the disposal of hazardous waste at the station <br />are posted at the entrance. <br />When possible, loads are visually inspected at the site entrance. The gate <br />attendant is trained to recognize items that are not accepted at the station. A <br />list of unacceptable items is posted in the gate house and is made available to <br />the haulers. <br />If hazardous materials are detected in a load, the gate keeper shall notify the <br />driver that the load contains hazardous materials and that the station is <br />prohibited from accepting hazardous waste. <br />Before a vehicle is turned away from the site the following information shall be <br />■ recorded'; <br />1. ®ate <br />2. Time <br />3. The hauling firm or vehicle owner's name <br />4. The driver's name <br />5. The company telephone number <br />6. Vehicle license plate number . <br />7. Source of the waste as stated by the vehicle driver <br />This information will be recorded on the data form shown in Attachment I. This <br />form will be signed by both the driver and the load -checking inspector. <br />This information can be used to identify the hauler if the load is illegally <br />dumped. <br />0 <br />1 3 <br />
