11 <br />WASTE SCREENING AT THE INDEPENDENT TRUCKING TRANSFER STATION <br />A highly visible sign stating that no hazardous waste is <br />accepted at the Independent Trucking Transfer Station is posted <br />at the entrance. <br />Waste loads containing recoverable materials <br />are spread out on the asphalt surface, and entire waste load is <br />checked for recoverable materials andhazardous waste. If <br />hazardous materials are discdvNibd in the load, the customer will <br />be told that he must remove the materials from the transfer <br />station and arrange for the waste to be disposed at a site <br />licensed to accept hazardous waste. A load checking data sheet <br />will be filled out to record the incident, and the California <br />Department of Health Services and the Gan Joaquin County Local <br />Health District will be notified. The load checking data sheet <br />is included in the Appendix. <br />If the vehicle has already left the site when the hazardous <br />materials are found, and the waste is containerized, Independent <br />Trucking will contract with a hazardous waste hauler to remove <br />the materials from the site and dispose of them at a hazardous <br />waste disposal faciltiy. The customer, if known; will be billed <br />for all costs. <br />If the hazardous materials are not containerized such that <br />reloading of the waste onto the vehicle is not possible, the area <br />will be marked off, and the San Joaquin County Office of <br />Emergency Services will be informed of the incident.
