Terms as Defined by the Recycling Act <br />Beverage - beer and other malt beverages, carbonated mineral and soda waters, and carbonated <br />soft drinks. <br />Beverage Container - the individual bottle, can, jar, carton, or other receptacle in which <br />a beverage is sold, and which is constructed of metal, glass or plastic, or any <br />combination of these.' This does not include cups or similar open or loosely sealed <br />receptacles, <br />Certified Recycling Center - an operation which is certified by the Department and which <br />accepts from consumers, and pays or provides the redemption value and any applicable ¥ 3 y <br />redemption bonus for, all types of empty beverage containers intended to be recycled; <br />Convenience Zone - all of the following: <br />1. the area within a 1/2 mile radius of a supermarket having annual gross sales of two <br />million dollars or more. <br />2. a zone as designated, by the Department with a high population density but no <br />supermarket. <br />Dealer - every person in this state, other than a lodging, eating, or drinking f <br />establishment, or soft drink vending machine operator, who engages in the sale of <br />beverages in beverage containers to consumers; <br />Department • Department of Conservation. <br />Recycling Center a certified recycling center. <br />Recycling Location - a plat , mobile unit, reverse vending machine, or other device where a <br />certified recycling centdr operates. <br />Redemption Value - the minimum refundable value established for each type of beverage''' <br />container, currently $0.01, <br />Reverse Vending Machine - a mechanical device which accepts one or more types of empty <br />beverage containers and issues a cash refund or a redeemable credit slip with a value <br />not less than the container's redemption value and applicable redemption bonus. <br />Supermarket - a full -line, self-service retail store with gross annual sales of two million <br />dollars, or more, and which sells a line of dry grocery, canned goods, or nonfood <br />items and some perishable items. <br />100% Recycled <br />Paper <br />
