ITEM NO. 11
Mod. UP-2239
Forward Inc.
Page 2
the concrete walls standing. Use Permit N . U®72237 was supposed to
allw the rebuilding and improvement of the facility.
The petition complained of the garbage, trash and refuse ]eft in the open
for extended periods of time and noise generated by the trucks and equipment
working late at night and early in the morning.
FIELD INVESTIGATION
Staff visited the property Monday morning, March 24Hh, to review the operation
and determine what, if any, conditions were being violated. Staff met Mr.
Greg Basso, ecmployee of Forward Inc. , and Mr. Jim Miller, Sanitarian, Local
Health District, on the site. Mr . Miller stated that their department had
been to the site last week when a problem did exist. However, it is now
completely cleaned up and they are satisfied that a health hazard no longer
exists .
The dumping of refuse was being conducted within the walls and no trash was
outside the building. It was noted that a pile of broken glass was in the
northwest corner of the property. This is intended to be recycled and will
be removed according to Mr. Basso.
Staff questioned Mr. Basso about the existing landscaping and he indicated
that they had a man come in every week to maintain it. The lawn area
appeared to have been mowed very recently.
Forward, Incas working hours were discussed as this was a concern noted in
the petition. He stated that the facility is open for public dumping from
:00 a.m. to 5 :00 p.m. daily. (Signs were visible stating this) . They do
have equipment on the job from 6 :00 a.m. on to after 5 :00 p.m. as the various
garbage companies utilizing the facility ususally are collecting garbage at
3 :00 or 4 :00 a.m.
A mobile office has recently been moved in without the benefit of permits
and application for this unit was made on April 24, 1975 (U®75- 80) and is
to be considered at the same time as the petition.
Staff took several slides and Polaroid photos of the property at that time.
Mr. Basso was advised that Staff would research the files and permits and that
a report would be made to the Board of Adjustment concerning the complaints
outlined in the petition.
The Board of zoning Adjustment initiated this modification hearing at their
meeting of April 24, 1975.
